SLT does not encourage credit card payments for inernet access

Used to recharge my SLT prepaid internet connection through the web, paying by credit card. But few days back the site could not connect to the payment gateway. Speaking to SLT, got to know that, there have being many complaints on credit card payments - so they do not encourage such payments for internet access.

  1. Any idea on what sort of complaints do they have? Bcos the company shouldn't have any problem with credit payments as they anyway get the payment just that card issuing bank has the recovering problem. May be SLT is trying to coverup a problem in their systems. Technological companies like SLT actually should encourage use of technology, its lot easier and safer to deal with cashless payments electronically as long as the systems are safe enough.

  3. Some time back, I went to SLT to pay my phone bill. I didn't had my paper bill with me; but just about any other bill could be paid without the actual paper bill even back then. But the person at the counter thought that I was insane to think that the bill could be paid without the paper.
I also heard from a person working at SLT IT department that they loose call data of days very often because of database "crashes".
All in all, they are not a technology company at all, they just have a lot of money because of the monopoly they had with the fixed line telephones. But until they get rid of the old "government" like habits, they would never be a trust worthy service providers.
